GWALIOR – NEPAL wedding 1941. A celebration dinner.

£35.00

GWALIOR. A good photograph of a celebration of the Maharaja Scindia of Gwalior’s wedding in 1941. The 9.75 x 6 ins vintage photograph by Dias Studio, Bombay shows the Maharaj Rana of Dholpur making a speech with  the King of Nepal in uniform seated next to him. The British official to the left is quite probably the Resident. The tracks of the famous Gwalior silver train, which used to pull decanters and cigars round the table, can be clearly seen.  The photogrpah is in excellent condition with just four marks on the corners of the reverse where it has been tipped to an old paper album page,     mar25/4
