An excellent example of the officer’s 25mm gilt button of the 38th (1st Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot with the backmark FIRMIN & SONS’LD. LONDON. This is the pattern worn on the officer’s tunic from 1855 until 1881 when the 38th became the 1st Bn. The South Staffordshire Regiment. The button retains virtually the full original gilt finish. aug16/4
