3rd Foot, East Kent Regiment. Officers in India, c 1870s

£80.00

An unmounted 11½ x 9 ins sepia toned group photograph of 17 officers, several of them from the East Kent Regiment, the Buffs, at that time designed as the 3rd Foot. Eleven of the officers are in uniform and some of the 3rd Foot hold or wear their caps with the distinctive regimental badge. Two officers on the extreme left as viewed wear different tunics with buttoned gauntlet cuffs. The photograph is clearly taken in India but we do not know precisely where. In 1874 the regiment was stationed in Calcutta at Fort William. After the reforms of 1881 the regiment became the Royal East Kent Regiment.  dec16/1
