3rd West York (Light Infantry) Militia officer’s silver plated 20mm coatee button 1852-55

A 20mm silver plated, officer’s coatee button of the 3rd (Light Infantry) West York Militia with design of the rose within the light infantry strung bugle with crown above. It has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON. The button is illustrated in Ripley & Darmanin: English Infantry Militia Buttons 1757-1881 [293] where it is noted that the button was also worn by the 4th Royal Lancashire Militia. Another button from my old private collection put together in the 1970s so the button has very dark toning as I do not clean buttons.  sep2/1
