3rd West York (Light Infantry) Militia white metal 25mm tunic button post 1855

A 25mm white tunic button of the 3rd (Light Infantry) West York Militia with design of the rose within the light infantry strung bugle with crown above. It has the backmark FIRMIN & SONS LONDON. The button is illustrated in Ripley & Darmanin: English Infantry Militia Buttons 1757-1881 [293] where it is noted that the button was also worn by the 4th Royal Lancashire Militia. Although the front of the button is in excellent condition the steel back has some signs of rusting and might benefit from some cleaning. Another button from my old private collection put together in the 1970s and untouched since then.  mar6/1
