41st Madras Infantry. An officer’s scarlet tunic, circa 1870s
£390.00
The somewhat defective uniform of the 41st Madras Infantry has cloth in rather better than average condition with just one small moth hole in one cuff facing. The tunic has dark green facings and one bath star on the collar. It will have had two simple red shoulder cords secured by small regimental buttons. The tunic retains all eight of the large 24mm partly frosted gilt buttons [with backmark JENNENS & Co, LONDON ] on the front but lacks one of the two on the back. The largely quilted lining is in reasonable condition for its age. may25/1
