5th Mahratta Light Infantry, The officers, British & Indian, 1943

A very good panoramic photograph of the officers of the 5th Mahratta Light Infantry taken at the Belgaum Regimental Centre in 1943. The clear group photo shows around a hundred officers, both British commissioned officers and V.C.O.s or Viceroy Commissioned Officers. The 5th was one of those very large regiments formed in 1922, in this case comprising around 10 battalions formed from former units of the Bombay army.  feb20/1
