68th Durham Light Infantry. A 15mm officer’s gilt coatee button with the backmark C. JENNENS LONDON. The button retains a little of the original gilt around the regimental numerals and the strung bugle. The shape of the crown and the maker’s mark suggest this is a pre-Victorian button. Gwen Squire : Buttons shows a similar button Plate 21, No. 22 but that has a distinctly Victorian crown and is dated to 1830-55. feb27/2   SOLD 13th August 2022
