6th West York Militia, sikver plated officer’s 16mm button

A silver plated officer’s button of the 16mm size of teh 6th Weat York Militia with the backmark JENNENS LONDON , This is the pattern introduced in 1853 and used until the unit became the 3rd & 4th Bns The Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment in 1881. We think the style of this button indicates suggests it was the small size used on the coatee before the introduction of the tunic in 1855/56.   oct5/1

This is one of the buttons from my old personal collection whch has not seen the light of day since the 1970s and has never been cleaned.
