71st Highland Light Infantry. 25mm officer’s gilt button with the backmark JENNENS &Co. LONDON. A good example of the button worn from 1855 to 1881 when the regiment became the 1st Bn. The Highland Light Infantry (City of Glasgow Regt.) The design shows the regimental number within a light infantry bugle beneath a Victorian crown. The regiment’s 2nd Bn. was the previous 74th Foot. This example has a little wear on the high points of the crown. oct29/4
