73rd Foot, Perthshire officer’s gilt 25mm

73rd Foot Perthshire. A good example of the officer’s gilt 25mm button with the backmark FIRMIN & SONS,  LONDON. This is the pattern worn from 1855 to 1881 when the regiment became known as the 2nd Bn. The Black Watch (Royal Highland Regt.). The button has a very little loss of gilt on the highest points of the design. The regiment first saw service in India in 1780 against Tippoo Sultan   dec31/3
