A 25mm gilt officer’s button of the 75th Stirlingshire Regiment of Foot   The backmark is J. W. REYNOLDS & Co. LONDONThis pattern of button with the regimental number within thistles was worn from 1855 to 1881 when the regiment became The 1st Bn. The Gordon Highlanders. The regiment was originally raised at Stirling by Colonel Robert Abercromby in 1788 for service in India and particularly distinguished itself at Seringapatam.  may15/7
