83rd Regt of Foot, (County Dublin) officer’s gilt 25mm


An excellent example of the officer’s 25mm gilt button of the 83rd (County  Dublin) Regt., the pattern in use from1855 to 1881 when the 83rd became the  The Royal Irish Rifles. After Irish independence the regiment became part of the Royal Ulster Rifles. It has the backmark C. SMITH & SON 5 NEW BURLINGTON ST. LONDON and retains virtually full original gilt finish. jun8/1
