The small size 15mm pewter button would have been worn by other ranks of the 87th Foot, Royal Irish Fusiliers, up to the Crimean War period. There is no backmark but the button does retain the original iron shank although it is rather bent. Like most early pewter buttons this is rather woen.. jan13/2
