A general officer and staff in a tented camp in India, late Victorian

This attractive and atmospheric group portrait measures 10¾ x 8¼ ins [27 x 21 cm] and is double mounted on grey photographer’s card [18 x 13½ ins] and is in exceptionally good, clean condition overall. The general officer and his staff include, on the extreme right, a lieutenant of the 15th Bengal Lancers identifiable by his shoulder title which is of a pattern before 1903 when the Bengal was dropped from the title. The central standing officer is a Gurkha. All wear service dress, inmost cases with swords and pistols.  apr1
