A limited edition of a 1957 work on Charles Lamb, sumptuously re-cased in much earlier naval binding

The booklet retains its original decorative paper covers, a limited edition of 300 copies . It has been rebound in an old naval binding of full blue leather gilt with the Royal Arms to the upper board and the seal of the Admiralty to the lower board, the endpapers of cream, watered silk with fine surrounding gilt decoration, top edges gilt. The new binding has the Ex Libris bookplate of Herbert Grant Smith. A few printed pages loosely inserted in the work include a page about the Charles Lamb Society [President – Lord David Cecil and showing Herbert Grant Smith as editor of the bulletin].  A most uusual rebinding with appeal to more than one area of book collecting.    aug8/1
