The volunteer is photographed three quarter length by T. Illingworth, 41 Crown Street, Halifax. To judge by his cap badge he is almost certainly a member of one of the West Yorkshire militia regiments. The imperial crown above the rose suggests this is from the late 1890s. jan7/6
