Aldershot, a large group of English ans Scottish officers, around 1914 or a litle earlier

£20.00

The group portrait, 11¼ x 6½ ins [on card 14¼ x 10¼ ins], shows some 40 infantry officers in service dress along with two dogs, as is usual for the period. The lack of medal ribbons on almost all but the most senior officer and the presence of rank badges on the cuffs suggests this was taken just befroe or around the start of WW1 and that most of the officers are probably not not regulars. It is possible to make out many of the cap badges with a glass. There is a blot of something on one of the officers in the second row. dec14/1
