An interesting cabinet card of a Scottish volunteer captain, circa 1860s/70s

£40.00

An interesting carte de visite, 6¼ x 4¼ ins, without photographer’s credit showing a three quarter length portrait of a Scottish captain in dress uniform with basket hilted sword and dirk and with his bonnet on a table to the right. The uniform having lace to the cuffs suggests he is in a volunteer Highland regiment. The regular regiments wore the gauntlet cuffs usually found on Scottish uniforms. aug25/7
