An old travelling trunk label from the days of the East India Company
£120.00
A very atmospheric early 19th century trade label of a trunk maker, shoein the ams of the East India Company. It measures 7¾ x 6¼ ins and remains glued to part of the lid of an old wooden travelling trunk. A jagged crack from top left unfortuately runs through part of the arms but this is worth restoring or framing as it is. |The trunk maker’s label describes his services: JOHN VINEY & Co. TRUNK MAKERS to the HONBL. EAST INDIA COMPANY. 48 Cornhill, London. Trunks abd Chests of every description FOR THE Army and Navy. Bullock Trunks, Canteens, Valeeses, Liquor Cases &c. TRAVELLING TRUNKS, Leather Portmanteaus on a New Construction. Grseat variety of TRUNKS IN NESTS for Foreign Markets. The interestnig decoartive backing paper is hand blocked over old newsprint in an example of proper recycling. If I had space this would go on my own wall. jul15/2
