Large folding map of part of Central Asia (some tears along folds, without loss), folding map coloured in outline of Country south of Peshawar between India’s actual and political N-W Frontier, xvii.315pp, 32pp ads. Original red cloth gilt, rather bumped, faded, and worn, with evidence of removal of a label from upper board, but perfectly sound, internally clean, old ownership inscription to half title. An interesting and scarce work from the Russophobic camp. Thorburn, a Punjab administrator, writes about the independent tribes on the borders, Afghanistan, Russian Central Asian expansion, British policy, etc. feb3/2
