The handsome red leather folder, 11½ x 8¾ ins, has a continental arms with multiple quaterings in gilt to the centre of both boards, the one on the upper board a little rubbed on the left side. The highly decorated spine may have been part of a very accomplished rebinding process and at the head carries the crest of a British earl. It retains the central cord for keeping papers in place.
