The good, early carte de visite by John Moffat, 103 Princes Street, Edinburgh shows the staff sergeant waist length wearing a very high necked blue tunic. A well toned photograph of a striking looking soldier with the long hair fashionable in early Victorian times. Although a later pencil suggestion on the verso dates this to around 1850 I think it may be a little later. jan25/3
