A very good 23mm diameter gilt livery button of the Duke of Beaufort, showing the family crest of a portcullis beneath a ducal coronet. The button, with backmark FIRMIN & SONS LD. LONDON , probably dates from the era of the 8th Duke , or possibly his son Henry Adelbert Wellington Fitzroy Somerset who inherited the dukedom in 1906. The Duke’s seat is Badminton House in Gloucestershire. jan12/2
