BIKANER. Maharaj Sadul Singh, a vintage portrait showig the Prince in cavalry dress
£130.00
The 7¾ x 5½ ins portrait is close trimmed on card and shows Maharaj Sadul Singh of Bikaner probably in the early 1930s although we suspect a somewhat later print from the original negative. He wears cavalry unifprm with kurta and a 19th century sword of the honeysuckle pattern. His aiguillette indicates his position as ADC to his father Ganga Singh whom he was later to succeed as the last ruling Maharaja of Bikaner. His medals are those for the Coronoation of George V and the 1911 Durbar, each with the same obverse but the Durbar rather larger. Another portrait of the sitter in this section shows him wearing the George VI Coronation medal and is dated 1937. sep16/2
