Birmingham Pals brass button 1914, 1st R . Warwickshire Regt. brass 19mm

1st Birmingham Bn. R. Warwickshire Regt. A 19mm other ranks example of this battalion of the Birmingham Pals. The wording on the button reads 1st BIRMM. BATT. R. WARWICKSHIRE 1914. The backmark is J. R. GAUNT & SON LD LONDON. The  button is in good condition with the city arms quite clear. Although collectors often prefer the large buttons it is worth remembering that there were viewer small buttons that large on most uniforms. All these Pals Battalions have tragic stories of how whole streets of cities saw families lose fathers, sons, and brothers in the slaughter of the trenches.    jul16/4
