Oval portrait, window mounted in a contemporary photographer’s card window mount, showing the ensign full length standing by a table on which is his bonnet. He wears kilt and tartan plaid, and the single breasted doublet introduced in 1856, basket hilted sword and dirk. A very well toned image in excellent clean condition, 14..5 x 19.5cm oval. Overall size including card mount 29 x 24cm. At this time The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders was the 79th Regiment of Foot. sep4/3
