An excellent example of the rather scarce post 1881 button worn by officers of The Durham Ligth Infantry between the years 1881 and 1901. The 26mm button retains virtually full original gilt finish and has the backmark PITT & Co. 50 ST MARTINS LANE LONDON. It is difficult to explain why but this seems to be one of the scarcest of this series of buttons. jun6/2
