East India Railway Volunteer Rilfes, large 26mm button

East India Railway Volunteer Rifles. A good example of the large white metal button which has the title around the railway’s coat of arms with a Victorian crown above. These are the arms of the East India Company in the 1st quarter, the royal arms in the 2nd and 4th quarters, and an elephant in the 3rd quarter. These are all beneath a Victorian crown. The backmark is J H JOHNSON & CO, ALIGARH, U.P.. The button is in excellent condition and this is the first button of this larger size we have come across for this unit.  jul15/7
