xli, 273pp [Bengal, including 7pp casualties], 165pp [Madras including  4pp casualties], 136pp [ Bombay including 3pp casualties], 10pp advertisements, [xvi further ads. &c.]. Modern red half leather gilt, sound throughout, contemporary notes to a blank before the half title and a later name and address to another, a few annotations, mainly just lines through officers presumably deceased and with a somewhat angry alteration of the page of Colonels altering them to Major Generals, possibly suggesting the first owner was a disgruntled or passed over colonel [of whom there were many].  Fully indexed lists of all serving and retired officers in the three Presidency armies, together with lists of civil servants, government officials, etc. A feature of the Register is the list of annual casualties with date and place of death, etc. This volume was published when the Rt. Hon. Lord Auckland, G.C.B. was Governor General and General Sir Henry Fane, G.C.B. was Commander-in-Chief. It shows the Company’s organisation at the beginning of the Victorian era.   may12/5
