East India Registers. A reference facility for established customers
POA
Bates and Hindmarch has a considerable reference collection of East India Registers and offers established customers a service where we can send you a photograph of a page of particular interest to you to help with your research. We do not usually make any charge for this service but reserve the right to do so if you require a number of pages or the effort takes up too much time. Useful information in the registers includes: names of all British military officers in the HEIC service, Civil officers, directors and shareholders of the HEIC, usually ships of the season with captains, list of civilians living in the three Presidencies. Information here corrected to 1st November 2021

The 1860 issue was the last under this title after the East India Company was dissolved following the Mutiny. In most cases there were two editions in the year and very occasionally three. For some years we have both editions and not surprisingly in the land of two monsoons there is often considerable change.
The title seems to become standardised in 1803 [possibly 1802]. Before that date various versions exist under a variety of titles, produced by publishers such as Stockdale and Debrett. We have examples for the following years: 1789, 1791, 1794, 1796; 1899, 1801.
