A vintage marchbox holder showing on the upper siden uncroned portrait of Edward VIII marked H.M. KING EDWARD VIII CROWNED MAY 12TH 1937 . The reverse is named in blue Major Pat à Beckett Savage Club London. On the side it is marked UNIQUE SOUVENIR WITH COMPLIMENTS. Clearly the major was thinking ahead when he had these gifts made for, presumably, friends at the club. Altxhough the coronation did take place on that day but with Edward’s brother being crowned as George VI. may30/4
