Ettington Park, Warwickshire, a late Victorian cdv side view of the HIgh Victorian house, now a luxury hotel

Ettington Hall, Stratford on Avon, Warwickshire. A very good late Victorian carte de visite side view of the large High Victorian house in Gothic style, now a luxury hotel. The cdv, by Wm. Savage, Winchester is described in a contemporary hand on the verso as Ettington , the seat of E. P. Shirley Esq. Side view. Although there are numerous images on the internet showing the house in colour today we have only seen a few earlier images and none of this card. Cartes de visite were primarily designed for portraits and ones of houses are few and far between.   feb15/3
