GWALIOR, 1936. An illuminated portrait of King Emperor Edward VII

£14.00

GWALIOR. A  5¼ c 4 ins unmounted photograph from an old album of photographs by Diaz of Bombay, showing an illuminated portrait of  Edward VIII, briefly King Emperor from January 1936 until his abdication in that December. Always among the most loyal of Indian states to the British Royal Family it is likely that this portrait was quickly replaced by one his brother, the last King Emperor, George VI. The photograph is in excellent condition with just four marks on the reverse where it has been tipped on to an album page by the corners.   jul21/5
