GWALIOR & NEPAL. Photograph album of the 1941 wedding of the Maharaja Scindia of Gwalior to a Princess of Nepal

The oblong 12½ x 9 ins album contains 20 pages. each with a photograph to both sides, the images around 8 x 6 ins. The leaves are mainly detached from the binding and the card is often damaged around the edges but all the photographs are in excellent condition, sharply focused and well toned. Images are particularly strong in showing elephant processions, as well as marching troops including the Gwalior Lancers. Although many dealers would split the pages to sell separately we have decided to keep them together as a wonderful record of Indian pageantry during the last years of the Raj. feb1/2
