A good if somewhat faded three quarter length carte de visite portrait of the Prince of Wales [later the first King Emperor of India Edward VII] by Bingham, Inventeur du procede collodion in which he wears the dress uniform of the 10th (The Prince of Wales’s Own) Regt of Hussars, probably circa 1864-8. the Prince was Colonel of this aristocratic regiment from 1858 and here he wears the star of the Order of India. He was awarded an original KSI in 1861 and a GCSI on the enlargement of the Order in 1866.  An advertisement on Bingham’s card notes their medal won in 1862.      mar31/2
