Heraldic harness ornament crest of a beast’s head with a coronet on the neck

A substantial and attractive coach harness ornament in the form of a crest of a beast’s head with a coronet on its neck. Although the coronet includes the strawberry leaves seen on a ducal coronet they are not of the correct number. The crest measures 3 x 3½ ins and the lead filled reverse has three large, strong fixing rings. Probably 19th century. We have made no attempt to clean this but it looks as though it would polish to a silver coloured finish. jul30/1
