A very clean 10¼ x 7 ins including wide borders outside the plate mark. The engraved caricature after John Kay is one of the fine military examples identifying the officer in pencil on the margin as Hopetoun (James, 3rd Earl of) 1741-1816 . The earls were later to become Marquesses of Linlithgow, continuing to live at Hopetoun House in Edinburgh. aug11/1
