In 1903 the Duke represented the new King, Edward VII, at the great Coronation Durbar in Delhi. In 1910 the Duke represented the king in South africa and in 1911 he became Governor-General on Canada. He also served in Ireland. The Duke was the last surviving son of Queen Victoria and often represented his brother, Edward VII and nephew, George V.
