Hyderabad Contingent. A Major’s uniform dating from before 1880

£725.00

A good officer’s scarlet tunic of The Hyderabad Contingent dating from before 1880 when rank insignia were moved to epaulettes on the shoulders. This tunic has the low collar with a single Bath star which, with the lace indicates a Major. The buttons, with the backmark of JENNENS & Co. LONDON , have the unit’s distinctive design of the name on a scroll beneath a Victorian crown. There are seven large  buttons to the front, two to the rear and two smaller ones to the shoulder cords. The padded interior is in generally good condition and there is wear and damage to the lower light weigh silk part. A very good quality tunic of light weight.   jan13/3
