Indian High Political Officer’s dress sword belt, circa 1930s

The fine dress belt is of the pattern worn by high ranking Political Officers in India and came to us with a mameluke 1831 pattern sword. It is marked on the leather behind the buckle RANKEN & Co Ltd. CALCUTTA. The fire gilt buckle has the royal arms applied to the central section and the 1½ inch lace to the main belt is of the oak leaf pattern worn by field marshals and general officers of the army. The belt retains its sword slings.   feb27/1
