ISLINGTON. Crested livery button of Sir John Dickson-Poynder, 1st and last Baron Islington

The 26mm gilt livery button of Sir John Dickson-Poynder, 1st Baron Islington. GCMG, GBE, DSO [1866-1936] has the backmark F. STILLWELL & SON, LONDON and shows some signs of having been polished. He served in the Wiltshire Imperial Yeomanry during the South African War and was on the staff as ADC to his neighbour Lord Methuen. He served as MP fro Chippenham and was Governor of New Zealand 1910-12.     feb16/1
