A small carte de visite sized portrait, 3 x 2 ins, pasted to an old playing card. It shows a young member of the ruling family of Kolhapur, an important 19 gun salute state in the Bombay Presidency. The youth wears elaborate clothes and jewellery and holds a large sword. There is no photographer’s credit and the image is quite faded, with a little loss at the top right corner. sep3/1
