Late Victorian despatch box, dated 1892

The black box, 14 x 10 x 5½, is of the smaller, personal size as opposed to large ones usually associated with government officers. It lacks its key but the Bramah Lock does not appear to have been forced and the box is in considerably better that average condition. It would polish up well – something we don’t do. The lid is stamped in gilt with the initials J. C. above the date 1892.     jul2/3
