LONSDALE. A good silver plated 28mm armorial livery button of the Earl of Lonsdale showing the crest of a dragon passant beneath an earl’s coronet. The backmark is PITT & Co. 31 MADDOX ST. LONDON. The earl is the head of the Lowther family with a seat at Lowther Castle, Penrith. There is a little bleeding of the underlying copper on the higher parts of the deign. feb13/1
