Massive illustrated volumes of 1914-1919 mono chrome but with tipped in coloured plates, many portraits

L’ Album de la Guerre. Histoire Photographic et Documentaire reconstitueè chronologiquement a l’aide de clichés et de dessins publiés par ‘L’Illustration’ de 1914 a 1921. 1923 L’Illustration [Paris] 2 volumes large folio [16 x 12 ins, 41 x 31 cm].

Vol. I: 660 pp, [ii list of chapters] including some maps and grey paper pages with tipped in colour portraits, vol II: pp661-1303, 11 grey paper pages with tipped in coloured portraits, large folding partly coloured map and 4pp tables. original full leather boards gilt with edge wear spine fading and some marks but sound, contents appear complete and in generally very good condition, one case of two pages partly stuck together noted but it looks as though the temptation to remove a coloured portrait has been resisted. Athough the vast majority of the illustrations are monochrome there are several coloured ones in each volume. These weigh around 12 kilos before packing so will cost around £15 to post tracked in the UK but overeas posting will be much more expensive. apr23/1
