MUDHOL. A good cdv portrait of the young Vyankatrao II, Chief of Mudhol

The very good carte de visite of Vyankatrao II, Chief of Mudhol [1861-1900] by Bourne & Shepherd, Photographer, India shows the pensive looking ruler of this state in northern modern Karnatika, probably taken in the 1870s. He is shown full length and wears a Maratha style turban and carries a sword and scabbard of British or certainly European style. The state received a nine gun dalute status in 1922.    apr14/1
