Naini Tal, Kumaon, India 1880. a full plate photograph, 11¼ x 9 ins titled on the old album page Head of The Lake Nynee Tal (before the landslip) 1880. The reverse of the page has a similarly sized general view of the lake taken from the surrounding hills, lower right corner lacking a small piece. Nainital, now a Himalayan resort, was in 1880 a Hill Station popular with British officers on furlough hoping for good big game hunting. Jim Corbett was born there in 1875.    aug6/3
