Officers, some of the 88th Connaught Rangers, five portraits on an old scrap album card, late 1859s

The old paper sheet measures10¼ x 8 ins and has very well toned portraits of the late 1850s. On one side is a 6¾ ins x 5 ins group portrait with arched top. It shows a relaxed group of four officers playing cards, one wearing a forage cap of the 88th (Connaught Rangers) Regiment of Foot. The players and onlookers wear various civilian clothes with a few eleemnts of uniform. To the left sits an officer in a frock coat, reading a paper. The other side has four separate portraits three officers in uniform and a fourth wearing a tall top hat. The top right figure sports miniature medals from the Crimean War, including an Orrder of the Medjidie. The lower right figure has a shako on his table which appears to be of the Warwickshire Regt. feb5/2
