Prince of Wales’ Own West Yorkshire. Volunteer Officer’s 25mm silver plated, post 1881, probably 1890s to 1908

£22.00

This Volunteer Officer’s 25mm silver plated button was probably worn only from the 1890s until 1908 and has the title PRINCE OF WALES’ OWN WEST YORKSHIRE around the outer circle but the inner circle is blank, omitting the battle honours carried by the regular battalions.  The button has the backmark HAWKES &Co. PICCADILLY |LONDON W. A very good example which seems to retain all the original silver plate although it has never been cleaned while it has been in my private collection for the last fifty years.    aug2/3
